Valerie performed in the role of Elise in Liz Albrecht's Dr. Zargobius on June 8 for the SLC Playwrights Workshop.
Valerie is performing in the role of Madame Chara in The Middle by Ross Hewitt in the Village Playwright Festival on June 25.
Valerie was selected to be a copy editor for a special tribute book honoring and celebrating the life of Maya Angelou. Out on June 30--it was an incredible honor!!--published by ESSENCE books division.
Valerie just finished a wonderful Improv for Camera class with improv gurus Nate Starkey and Kevin Napier, and shot her film scene on June 28. Stay tuned on when it will be out.

APRIL/MAY 2014
The TD NYC 5-boro, 40-mile bike marathon on May 4 was a complete success. I ended up biking 52 miles total--from cycling to the start line, then biking the 40 miles and then cycling back home. And a special thank you to the one and only Terry--you are a wonderful man. Thank you for your support--couldn't have done it without you!!! AND I RAISED A RECORD AMOUNT THIS YEAR for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Thank you, everyone!!

March 2014--got cast in the amazing play Sordid Lives!!!
I got cast in the play, Sordid Lives, understudying 2 terrific roles [The Town Floozy (La Vonda) and The Town Drunk (Juanita)] with guaranteed performances--first role goes up March 1 (La Vonda)--second role goes up March 8 (Juanita); playing at The Duplex in the West Village. It is a blast--one of the most incredible groups of people I've ever worked with!!
Valerie will be performing improv with the Cheub improv group at the Hope Lodge, for cancer patients and their caregivers on Monday, 3/3.

February 2014--Very Special Month
February is a special month!
February 17 is "No, You Tell It - Lock & Key"--my foray back into writing--this is a wonderful event. Four of us have written a nonfiction story about an event in our lives with the theme Lock & Key. Mine is titled "Re-releasing the Confetti"--what I wrote about centers around an event that changed the course of my life forever and is a very personal narrative. Then the four of us swap each other's stories and perform the narratives for the audience, so someone will act out my story and I will act out his or hers. I am so excited for this! Show is 2/17, at Jimmy's No. 43 at 7 p.m., 43 East 7th Street.

Very exciting: My review of Slut the play that I wrote for Time Out New York Magazine (for the New York Fringe Festival) is now featured on the play's website. It was an amazing production with the very difficult, sensitive subject matter of cyber-bullying and slut-shaming. It is currently part of the NYC Fringe Festival Encore Series through September. On May 6, Valerie was part of Miss Representation documentary screening at the famous Player's Club in NYC: a celebration of women in theatre fund-raiser--selected as one of the models photographed for the Photo Gallery, depicting women's different roles/stereotypes in society--she was the Indian Woman.
